4 Injured, 1 Dead, After Crash That Closed Road For 6 Hours: Cops

Police said one 20-year-old has died from their injuries after the crash that involved two cars and a commercial box truck at 3 a.m. Friday.

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL — A Friday morning crash that killed one person and injured four others closed the intersection of Higgins and Barrington Roads for nearly six hours while police investigated the scene.

Hoffman Estates police said they responded to a call of a car crash at around 3 a.m. and found three vehicles involved when they arrived. Preliminary investigation revealed two cars and a commercial box truck were damaged.

A 20-year-old Streamwood resident was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead. Four others were taken to St. Alexius Medical Center with minor injuries.

Higgins Road from Shoe Factory Road to Barrington Road was closed before reopening at around 9 a.m. Friday.
