$500K Downtown Brick Paver Project Set To Begin In Arlington Heights
Work gets underway March 10, with construction to continue through May 23, weather permitting, according to the Village.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Starting next Monday, brick paver work will begin on the Downtown Arlington Heights Train Station, as well as sections of Vail Avenue, Dunton Avenue, and Evergreen Avenue, located in the Union Pacific Right of Way. According to the Village, construction will continue through May 23, weather permitting.
Last November, as part of the 2024 Capital Budget, the Arlington Heights Village Board approved a bid by Copenhaver Construction to complete the project $548,168.40. The Gilberts-based company was one of six to submit bids.
In selecting Copenhaver, the board noted the company had completed similar projects in Crystal Lake, Rockford, and Fox Lake.

"Staff contacted project managers for the above jobs, and had no objections towards Copenhaver's quality of work, following provided requirements and communication," the agenda from the Nov. 18, 2024 reads.
The annual budget includes $600,000 for the Village's annual Downtown ADA Compliance Program. According to officials, this program aims at providing improvements to pedestrian accommodations in the downtown areas, address deteriorating brick and ADA accessibility concerns.

Officials said the project will consist of the removal and replacement of concrete sidewalks and pavement, removal and replacement of curb and gutter, removal and replacement of bituminous pavement, removal of existing paver bricks, replacement with new paver bricks, removal and replacement of sand and aggregate base and assorted excavation.
According to the Village, this project may include temporary sidewalk closures, pedestrian detours, intermittent lane adjustments, potential traffic delays, and street parking restrictions near construction areas. The train station will remain accessible at all times during the project.
