6 Candidates Vie for 4 Seats on Arlington Heights Village Board

The contested race at the village board has two newcomers and four incumbents.

Voters in Arlington Heights have a number of candidates to choose from for the Arlington Heights village board. Six candidates are vying for four seats. Four incumbents will be on the ballot:

  • Carol Blackwood
  • John Scaletta
  • Mike Sidor
  • Robin Labedz (Appointed in 2013)

The challengers include:

  • Tom Schwingbeck
  • D. Court Harris

At a forum hosted by the League of Women Voters on March 4, candidates Sidor, LaBedz and Blackwood said the most pressing issue is Gov. Bruce Rauner’s proposed cuts to what municipalities receive from state income tax revenue, the Daily Herald reported.

“Under Rauner’s plan to solve the state’s financial woes, Illinois towns would lose half of their tax share,” the Daily Herald reported. “In Arlington Heights, that would mean a $3.7 million blow to the village’s budget.”
