AH Police Bust Dozens Of Motorists During St. Paddy's Patrols
The Illinois Department of Transportation's (IDOT) St. Patrick's Day Holiday Enforcement Campaign took place March 14 through 18, 2019.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The Arlington Heights Police Department completed enforcement activities centered on the Illinois Department of Transportation's (IDOT) St. Patrick's Day Holiday Enforcement Campaign. Police said the campaign took place from March 14 through March 18, during which Arlington Heights Police conducted a roadside safety checkpoint in an effort to identify and arrest motorists who made the decision to drive while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. The safety checkpoints were also conducted to catch those who weren't using seat belts, committing licensing, equipment or other Illinois Vehicle Code traffic violations, police said.
The following arrests and citations were made by police as a result of the holiday enforcement activities:
- DUI: 0
- Unlicensed driving: 0
- Warrant arrest: 0
- Failure to wear seat belt: 9
- Uninsured motorists: 1
- Driver's license-related violations: 13
- Registration-related violations: 13
- Equipment violations: 24
The department said they'll be participating in IDOT's grant program's "Distracted Driving" enforcement campaign next month.
