Arlington Flies Flags Half-Staff To Honor State Trooper Lambert
State Trooper Christopher Lambert was struck and killed by a car after he stopped to help victims of another accident on I-294 last weekend.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The village is flying its flags half-staff this week in tribute to Illinois State Police Trooper Christopher Lambert, who died Saturday while helping victims of a highway crash.
The flags will be flown half-staff from sunrise Wed., Jan. 16 to sunset Fri., Jan. 18, village officials said.
Lambert was at the end of his shift and on his way to his Highland Park home when he spotted a multi-vehicle crash on the northbound lanes of I-294 near Northbrook. He pulled over and was walking to the scene of the crash when another car hit him. He died three hours later at a nearby hospital.

Lambert, 34, was an Army veteran. He is survived by his wife and 14-month-old daughter, according to news reports.
His death has drawn an outpouring of support across the region.
