Arlington Heights Garage Fire Destroys 2 Cars, Does $150K Damage: FD

Firefighters arrived at the 300 block of East Hawthorne to find a garage fully engulfed in flames and had the fire contained in 15 minutes.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — A garage fire in Arlington Heights on Sunday night did about $150,000 in damage and destroyed two cars, fire officials announced on Monday.

The fire started just after 7:30 p.m. on Sunday evening in the 300 block of East Hawthorne St., where firefighters found the detached garage at the residence fully engulfed in flames when they arrived, officials said.

No one was injured and firefighters were able to contain the fire within 15 minutes. Firefighters remained on the scene for about three hours to continue to check for hot spots and to perform salvage operations.

The blaze did not extend to any other buildings or homes in the area, fire officials said and the damage involved the two vehicles and the structure, Arlington Heights fire officials said.

Fire officials are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire on Monday.
