Arlington Heights Man Faces DUI Charges In Fatal Hillside Crash

A 34-year-old Berwyn man was killed in the accident along Interstate 290 over the weekend.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — An Arlington Heights man is accused of driving under the influence following a weekend accident near Hillside that killed a Berwyn man. Matthew D. Graff, 34, is charged with aggravated DUI causing death and aggravated DUI causing bodily harm stemming from the crash, the Daily Herald reports. Authorities were not clear whether drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the incident, the report added.

According to Illinois State Police, the accident happened Sunday afternoon along Interstate 290 near Mannheim Road, the report stated. Graff was behind the wheel of a 1993 Chevrolet RV when he hit a 2005 Nissan stopped on the side of the interstate, the report added.

Eduardo Moreno, 34, was hurt in the crash, and he was taken to Maywood's Loyola University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, the report stated. A 42-year-old passenger in the car also was injured in the accident, and she was taken to the hospital, as well, the report added.
