A local resident recently visited a website that advertised fast cash loans and was involved in a situation where an unknown offender allegedly attempted to scam $1,300 from her.

The victim provided her personal checking account number along with her name and cell phone number to the website, police said. She then received a call from a person identifying himself as Michael Wilson, who said she had been approved for a $2,000 loan.

The man stated that to receive the loan, the victim would have to pay a first installment of $300. She gave the man the pin number for a credit card, and was called back later, when she was told she needed to provide an additional $400, which she did.

The man requested an additional $700 for a bank routing fee and a transfer fee.  The loan did not end up posting to her account, and none of the funds were removed from her checking account, which she ended up canceling.
