Arlington Heights Students Named 2025 National Scholarship Winners

The awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to 4 years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — National Merit Scholarship Corporation, based out of Evanston, announced Wednesday nearly 3,000 winners of scholarships, including several from the Arlington Heights area. The winners are financed by U.S. colleges and universities.

Officials of each sponsor college selected their scholarship winners from among the finalists in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program who plan to attend their institution. These awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship. An additional group of scholars will be announced in July, bringing the total number of college-sponsored Merit Scholarship recipients in the 2025 competition to more than 3,600.

  • James Thomas Moreth, Arlington Heights (Prospect High School, Mount Prospect) — National Merit Indiana University Bloomington Scholarship. Probable career field: Consulting
  • Reyna U. Patel, Elk Grove Village (James B. Conant High School, Hoffman Estates) — National Merit University of Southern California. Probable career field: Computer Science
  • Rashmi Saikaladurga Madamsetty, Hoffman Estates (William Fremd High School, Palatine) — National Merit University of South Florida Scholarship. Probable career field: Medicine
  • Alyssa Senese, Hoffman Estates (Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, Aurora) — National Merit University of Alabama. Probable career field: Mechanical Engineering
  • Malvika Dharwadkar, Palatine (William Fremd High School, Palatine) — National Merit University of South Florida Scholarship. Probable career field: Medicine

According to NMSC, this year, 146 higher education institutions are underwriting Merit Scholarship awards through the National Merit Scholarship Program. Sponsor colleges and universities include 74 private and 72 public institutions located in 42 states and the District of Columbia.
