Arlington Heights Teen Charged As Adult In DUI Crash: Prosecutor

Isabel Guerra, 16, faces multiple DUI felony charges stemming from a February crash that hospitalized the teen and four other passengers.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — A 16-year-old Arlington Heights girl is being charged as an adult and faces felony aggravated driving under the influence charges in connection with a February crash that injured four passengers in her car.

Isabel Guerra appeared in court last week and has been charged with four counts of aggravated DUI as well as four counts of aggravated reckless driving causing great bodily harm or disability in addition to other charges, according to Kane County court records.

The charges stem from a Feb. 11 crash in which police say that Guerra was driving a 2019 Honda HR-V in unincorporated Hampshire Township at 2:50 a.m. Police said that the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.

Police reports indicate that Guerra was the driver of the vehicle. She was airlifted to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge while four other passengers – including one from Arlington Heights – were taken to other area hospitals. Police reports indicate that three of the passengers were 15 at the time of the crash while the fourth was 16.

In addition to the felony charges, Guerra also faces a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of drugs (first or second offense) and driving too fast for conditions, court records show. Guerra was released on a personal recognizance bond and is scheduled to appear in court on October 20.
