Bicyclist Breaks Leg In Crash With SUV

The 37-year-old man rode his bike through a red light when he was hit, according to Arlington Heights police.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — A 37-year-old bicyclist was seriously hurt Friday morning when he ran a red light and then was hit by an SUV in Arlington Heights. The man suffered a broken leg and other injuries in the accident, but Arlington Heights police said none of them were considered life-threatening, according to the Daily Herald.

The accident happened at around 7:05 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, as the man was riding north on Wilke Road, the report stated. He was struck by a 2012 Jeep Wrangler while crossing against traffic on Euclid Avenue, the report added.

The bicyclist was not immediately cited following the accident.

"He just likes riding bikes fast," an Arlington Heights police spokesman told the Herald.
