Schaumburg Woman's Tragic Death 'Could Happen To Anybody:' Sister

The sister of Sureel Dabawala, 34, is warning others after her sister was found dead in the trunk of her car Jan. 13, according to reports.

SCHAUMBURG, IL — The sister of a Schaumburg woman who police said was found dead Monday in the trunk of her car in West Garfield Park wants people to know something as tragic as this could happen to anybody, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The sister of 34-year-old Sureel Dabawala — who asked not to be identified due to safety reasons— said Dabawala went to work out not far from the family's Schaumburg home on Dec. 30, but was never seen alive again, according to the news report. Dabawala was last seen driving her car, according to a community alert sent by Schaumburg police Friday.

The woman was reported missing on Jan. 1 after failing to return home on Dec. 30, and her family and the Schaumburg Police Department were concerned about her well-being due to a medical condition, according to Schaumburg police.

Officers were called around 8:30 p.m. Monday to the 200 block of North Kilpatrick Avenue after 34-year-old Sureel Dabawala's white 2011 Lexus sedan was found by private investigators. Dabawala was found inside, and was later pronounced dead. Her body was identified by the medical examiner's office Tuesday morning.

The case is being treated as a death investigation rather than a homicide, NBC Chicago reported.
