Boy Hurt After Rope Course Fall At Hoffman Estates Fun Center
Main Event Entertainment has closed down the attraction, and it is investigating Sunday's accident.

HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL — A child was hurt Sunday at a Hoffman Estates entertainment story after a fall from a rope course. Main Event Entertainment, 2575 Pratum Ave., has shut down its Gravity Ropes Adventure Course, and it is looking into the accident.
According to authorities, the fall occurred just before 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, at Main Event, the Daily Herald reports. Details about how the accident happened and the condition of the child are not known.
"Safety is our top priority at Main Event and we are investigating this incident thoroughly," Main Event district manager Steve Jackson told the Herald in a statement. "In the meantime, we have temporarily shut down the course as an added precaution."

According to Main Event's website, the Gravity Ropes attraction has participants hooked to a zip line as they walk over "[a] swaying bridge, balancing planks and a tight rope, all while suspended high above our Games Gallery." The course is "safe for adults and kids of all ages," but participants must be at least 48 inches tall to navigate it, the website said.

The Main Event accident comes less than a week after a 7-year-old Glen Ellyn boy died following a fall from gym equipment at a Wheaton My Gym.
