Candlelight Vigil In Arlington Heights Will Protest Migrant Camps
Lights of Liberty to hold hundreds of vigils nationwide, including one in Arlington Heights, to protest conditions in U.S. migrant camps.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Lights for Liberty: A Vigil To End Human Concentration camps will hold candlelight vigils on Friday, July 12, in locations throughout the country. A vigil is planned in Arlington Heights, according to the group's website. The goal of the vigils, according to the Lights for Liberty, is to protest the inhumane conditions of migrant camps along the U.S. southern border. Key events are planned in El Paso, Texas, Homestead, Fla., San Diego, Calif.; New York City; and Washington, D.C.
The vigil in Arlington Heights will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Arlington Heights Train Station area, and the meeting area for the first to arrive will be at the southwest corner of northwest highway and Arlington Heights Road, according to the event organizer. As people arrive, the group will begin lining up along Northwest Highway and Arlington Heights Road, according to the event Facebook page, and participants are advised to stay east of Evergreen if they decide to stand on the north side of the street.

Bring:
- Candle/or battery operated candle: According to the event Facebook page, the Dollar Store sells battery operated candles and batteries, and these are recommended in case it's windy outside during the vigil.
- Sign: "Be creative! Just keep it clean. Kids will be there as well as in cars driving by," the organizer said, according to the event page.
- Bring something to drink.
