Canty To Push For Improved Local Services, Public Safety Investments

The Arlington Heights Democrat will serve as a member of key House committees.

State Rep. Mary Beth Canty, D-Arlington Heights, will focus on streamlining local services, improving public safety and supporting law enforcement as a member of key House committees.

“As we begin a new legislative session, we have ample opportunity to improve local governments, continue to promote public safety, and make the changes necessary to move Illinois forward,” Canty said. “I am eager to use my years of experience in the private and public sectors to serve on these committees and fight for stronger, safer communities across the state.”

Canty will use her experience as an Arlington Heights Village Trustee to advocate for streamlined local services as a member of the Cities and Villages committee. As a member of the Appropriations - Public Safety and Police and Fire committees, Canty will support our first responders and lead the charge to further invest in violence reduction programs that address the root causes of violent crime. She will also serve on the Child Care Access and Early Childhood Education, Housing, and Public Health committees.

“From expanding access to child care to supporting our first responders, I will use my committee assignments to make the voices of our community heard and fight for the safety and prosperity of working families,” Canty said. “I look forward to collaborating with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to build a better Illinois for all.”
