Driving 'Donuts' Damage Baseball Field: AH Police Crime Reports
More than half of these recent crime reports in Arlington Heights involve theft.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The Arlington Heights Police Department responded to the following crime reports during recent weeks, including the beginning of March.
Theft from Target store
A black man described as being between 20 and 30 years old and wearing a dark colored jacket with yellow interior, black pants and a black winter hat was seen leaving the area of 1700 E. Rand Road after stealing $900 worth of merchandise from the Target store located at that address between 7:57 p.m. and 7:59 a.m. on Feb. 22. He was last seen leaving the area as a passenger in a tan Ford Explorer with an unknown license plate.

Theft from Target store
A white man described as wearing a red hat, dark jacket, blue hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and black shoes is accused of stealing merchandise from the Target store at the above address at 2:27 p.m. on Feb. 28. The retail value of the stolen merchandise is $216.

Mail, identity theft
Mail was stolen from a mailbox at a home in the 1500 block of N. Evergreen Avenue between 12 a.m. and 11:50 p.m. on Feb. 28. Bank account information was included in the stolen mail, and was used to later withdraw money from the person's bank account.
Stolen wallet
A person's wallet was stolen from their backpack after the backpack was left unattended while the person played basketball at Hasbrook Park in the 330 block of W. Maude Avenue between 11 a.m. and 12:43 p.m. on March 1. The wallet had several credit and ID cards in it, in addition to $30.
Theft
Several credit and ID cards were stolen from someone's coat pockets after they left the coat on a public coat rack while receiving treatments at Davita Dialysis on W. Golf Road between 10 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. on Feb. 26.
Bike stolen from train station
A bicycle was stolen while locked to a fence with a U-shaped bike lock at the Arlington Park Metra Train Station between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 27. Police said it appears the person or persons who stole it was able to dismantle part of the fence and remove the lock from the fence before stealing the bike.
Package stolen from condominium complex
A package was stolen at 2 p.m. on Feb. 28 from the public entrance of Brittany Place Condos in the 2400 block of S. Goebbert Road. The contents of the package are valued at $110.
Park bathrooms damaged
The bathrooms at Sunset Meadows Park were damaged between 1 p.m., Feb. 20, and 12:45 p.m., Feb. 24. The person or persons responsible carved scratches, numbers, and lettering into the stalls with an unknown sharp object, and a soap dispenser was knocked off the wall, and broken. The cost to repair the damage is $1,000.
Driving "donuts" damage baseball field
A person or persons damaged the grass on the baseball field at Centennial Park at 8 a.m. on Feb. 26, by driving a car in circles, also known as doing "donuts." The cost to repair the damage is unknown.
Dumpster lock damage on liquor store property
Information on a possible suspect in last month's damage on the property of Binny’s Beverage Depot at 35 W. Rand Road was obtained from security footage. According to the footage, the person is described as a white man. 50 years old, wearing dark pants, a plaid button-down shirt, and a jacket with a white hood, driving a small black four-door car. The padlocks securing dumpsters on the property were damaged by superglue on several occasions between 5 a.m., Feb. 2, and 5 a.m., Feb. 23. Each time a lock is super glued it needs to be cut away, making the lock unusable.
Items stolen from car
Two bags of clothes intended for donation were stolen from an unlocked car parked in the driveway at the car owner's home in the 1600 block of Avon Court, between the evening hours of March 2, and 2 p.m., March 4.
The Arlington Heights Police Department reminds residents to lock their cars, take keys out and remove all valuables, as car thefts and burglaries are preventable.
