Fake Undercover Cop Who Asked Woman For Sex Given Jail, Probation

The Wheeling man was sentenced as part of a plea deal stemming from the April incident.

WHEELING, IL — A Wheeling man accused of impersonating an undercover police officer and luring a 20-year-old woman from a Niles store parking lot to a Wheeling motel for sex was sentenced to 142 days in jail and probation, according to the Daily Herald. Janusz Kordek's sentence was part of plea deal with prosecutors, the report added.

Kordek, 27, pleaded guilty to aggravated battery in connection with the April incident. Along with jail and probation, he must also pay $774 in fines, submit to drug and alcohol evaluations and can have no contact with the victim, the Herald reports.

According to authorities, Kordek encountered the victim April 3, 2018, in a Niles shopping center, the report stated. The woman had apparently shoplifted a candy bar from a store in the plaza, the report added. Flashing a badge, a red ID card and the police-style lights on his car, Kordek, a grocery store clerk at the time, told the victim he was an undercover police officer and that the woman was wanted for shoplifting, the report stated. He then said he would take her to safety, and the two left in Kordek's car, the report added.

Kordek eventually drove to a hotel and then asked for sex from the women, the report stated. When the victim refused, prosecutors say Kordek tried to assault her. He later apologized over social media, the report added.
