Ex-Arlington Heights Cop, Brother Of Mariano's Owner Found Dead
Joseph Mariano, 64, was found dead at his Schaumburg home May 26.
SCHAUMBURG, IL — The Schaumburg Police Department said a man found dead Sunday at a home in the 200 block of Dublin Lane has been identified as 64-year-old Joseph Mariano. Mariano is a former Arlington Heights police detective and reportedly the brother of Mariano's grocery chain founder Bob Mariano.
Police said Joseph Mariano's body was found when officers responded to a 911 call for a well-being check at his home at around 12:13 a.m. Sunday.
Mariano had been stabbed, according to WGN and the Daily Herald.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Mariano served as a police detective with the Arlington Heights Police Department for 11 years, from November 1977 to May 1989. He had been with Mariano's as a food service manager since August 2012.
Police said an active homicide investigation is underway by the Schaumburg Police Detective Division and the Major Case Assistance Team (MCAT).
