IL Congressmen Denied Entry To ICE Facility In Chicago
Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL 8th), of Schaumburg, posted a video of the Tuesday afternoon incident to social media.

CHICAGO — Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL 8th), of Schaumburg, and a colleague were denied entry to the South Loop ICE facility in Chicago Tuesday afternoon. Krishnamoorthi posted a video of an exchange at the facility to social media.
Krishnamoorthi was with Rep. Jonathan L. Jackson (D-IL) in the video, posted at 1:56 p.m.
"We went to ask questions and perform congressional oversight of potential illegal ICE activities as Donald Trump's administration targets immigrant communities. More to come," Krishnamoorthi said on X.

In the video, a person at the desk, who identifies themselves as an officer with ICE, tells the congressmen that they're not allowed to be there and police are coming. Jackson asks the person to show a badge, but is rebuffed.

“ICE Officers are herewith ordered, by notice of this TRUTH, to do all in their power to achieve the very important goal of delivering the single largest Mass Deportation Program in History,” Trump wrote in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social.

Krishnamoorthi announced last month he is seeking the U.S. Senate seat of fellow Illinois politician Dick Durbin, who is not running for reelection in 2026.
Krishnamoorthi, 51, currently serves as the ranking member of the House Select Committee on Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
First elected to Congress in 2016, and reelected for his latest term last November, Krishnamoorthi was born in New Delhi, India, and raised in Peoria. He is the first ever Indian-American or person of South Asian descent to serve as Ranking Member or Chair of any full committee in the U.S. Congress. He also serves as an assistant whip.
"A president, ignoring the Constitution, out for revenge, acting like a dictator, claiming he's a king, surrounded by billionaire backers and mega extremists, threatening our rights, rigging the rules to line their pockets, wrecking the economy, they profit and working people pay," Krishnamoorthi said. "It's insanity."
