Illinois Schedules Road Lane Closures In Schaumburg
Electronic message signs will be displayed to alert drivers of lane closures at Roselle Interchange on I90 to complete a local project.

From Illinois Tollway: Local road lane closures are scheduled this week at the Roselle Road Interchange on the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) in Schaumburg to complete local improvements and wrap up the project. Electronic message signs are in place to alert drivers in advance to the scheduled lane closures and traffic patterns.
Weather permitting, long-term lane closures will begin on Monday, March 20, and continue through summer to complete shoulder work, roadway lighting, landscaping and traffic signal improvements. The local road lane closures are necessary to provide a work zone and safely accommodate the completion of construction activities.
Work will begin with the closure of one right lane in both directions on Roselle Road between Hillcrest Boulevard and Central Avenue. Traffic is scheduled to remain in this configuration into May, at which time the closures of one left lane in both directions will be put in place to complete roadway median work. All work is scheduled to be complete this summer.

The Illinois Tollway is committed to ensuring that the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (I-90) and Roselle Road remain safe for both drivers and workers during construction, which is part of the agency’s overall commitment to roadway safety.
Construction zone speed limits are in effect in all construction zones 24/7 and drivers should continue to watch for changing traffic patterns and use caution, especially when workers are present. On I-90 a 45 mph work zone speed limit is in effect throughout the construction season. A 35 mph work zone is in place in the construction zone on Roselle Road.
Illinois State Police have zero tolerance for drivers speeding in work zones. The minimum penalty for speeding in a work zone is $375. Posted signs advise drivers of a $10,000 fine and a 14-year jail sentence for hitting a roadway worker.
Roselle Road Interchange Project
The Illinois Tollway is partnering with Cook County to complete the full-access interchange at Roselle Road. In 2016, the Tollway completed ramp construction at the Roselle Road Interchange that improved access to and from the east and provided a new eastbound exit ramp. In addition, a new, multi-use bicycle and pedestrian path was constructed on the west side of the Roselle Road Bridge. In 2017, Cook County is scheduled to construct a new entrance ramp providing a new westbound entrance to I-90 for Roselle Road traffic via Central Road. The total interchange project cost is estimated at $50-60 million.
The project is funded in part by the Illinois Tollway’s 15-year, $12 billion capital program, Move Illinois: The Illinois Tollway Driving the Future, and by the Village of Schaumburg and Cook County.
Construction information about the Roselle Road Interchange Project is available in the “Projects by Roadway” section in the Construction/Planning section on the Tollway’s website at illinoistollway.com.
