ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL — Traffic lights are dark in the area of Busse Road and Oakton Street, officials said in a social media post Wednesday afternoon, causing police officers to direct traffic.

Tuesday night's storm left almost 200,000 people without power and multiple Chicagoland towns scrambling to clean up downed wires, trees and traffic lights.

A spokesperson from the Elk Grove Village Police Department said the town will update residents once traffic lights are working again. Officers first started directing traffic at around 11:15 a.m.
