Majority Of Arlington Heights Board Receptive To Marijuana Sales

Five of the nine elected board members expressed being open to sales within town borders, according to the Daily Herald.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — More than half of Arlington Heights village board members said during a Tuesday meeting they're open to allowing recreational marijuana sales by dispensieries in town, according to the Daily Herald. However, many of the elected board members supporting the idea also expressed how they'd want a lthe number of business within town borders to be limited, in addition to where they can be located, and other stipulations, according to the news report. The discussion was the first since Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed a measure in June legalizing adult marjuana use across the state.

Muncipalities can restrict or forbid sales within their borders before the law takes effect on Jan 1, and a number of area suburbs have already chosen one way or the other. However, adult marjuana use or possesion cannot be banned.
