ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — A Chicago man accused of driving a stolen car away from police in Arlington Heights Monday and crashing it in Englewood is charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and other offenses, according to Chicago Police. The Chicago Sun Times reported Alexander Payne, 27, of the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side, is also being charged with possession of a stolen title or registration, resisting a peace officer, battery and criminal damage to government property, according to Chicago police.

The Chicago Police Department said Illinois State Police informed them after the Cadillac got onto eastbound I-90 toward the city, followed by officers spotting the car on Union Avenue, according to The Sun-Times. The news report added that the Cadillac crashed into an electrical box on West 63rd, before the driver got out and ran, ultimately being caught and arrested by police. Authorities said Investigators learned the Cadillac had been reported stolen from Downers Grove, The Sun-Times reported.
