Man Charged With Dissemination Of Child Pornography: Cook County Sheriff

The 22-year-old Streamwood resident was arrested following tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

STREAMWOOD, IL — Following an investigation that began last year, a 22-year-old Streamwood man has been arrested after police said he had shared child sexual abuse materials via a social media app. Omar Reyes was charged with dissemination of child pornography and child pornography possession charges following his Jan. 6 arrest, according to the Cook County Sheriff's Office.

The charges were approved by the Cook County State's Attorney's Office. Reyes was ordered to Cook County Jail custody following his Jan. 8 initial court appearance at the Rolling Meadows Courthouse.

The Sheriff’s Police Internet Crimes Against Children Unit launched an investigation in July 2025 after receiving tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding a social media user that uploaded and shared chid sexual abuse materials.

Through search warrants, investigators learned the account's IP address returned to a residence in the 700 block of Krause Avenue in Streamwood and images of CSAM were confirmed from the social media account.

Investigators executed a search warrant on Jan. 6 at that address, where they found Reyes and
learned that he had sent and received chid sexual abuse materials via social media. Reyes was taken into custody. CCSAO approved the charges the next day.

According to the sheriff's office, the ICAC investigators have charged 59 people for cases involving victimization of children and child pornography since 2020.
