ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The country honors the life and achievements of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. with a national holiday in his name Monday, Jan. 15.
Although it's a federal holiday, most retail businesses around Arlington Heights will be open. But it's always idea to call ahead and check.
Here's a look at how Martin Luther King Jr. Day will affect institutions and services around Arlington Heights:

Schools: No classes for District 15, District 25, District 59, District 211 and District 214.
Village Government: Village Hall and village offices will be closed. County, state and federal government offices will be closed, too.

Arlington Heights Memorial Library: The library will be open during regular hours, but its Kids' World area will close early at 5 p.m.
Postal Service: No mail delivery, and all post offices will be closed.
Banks: Most financial institutions will be closed. Call ahead to be sure.
