More Thefts Reported In Arlington Heights: Police
More theft incidents reported during the first week of June 2019 in Arlington Heights.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The Arlington Heights Police Department responded to the following reports in recent days:
Criminal damage to vehicle
Authorities received a report of damage done to a victim's vehicle in the 1100 block of W. Shure Drive Wednesday between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. The unknown offender or offenders used a sharp metal or similar object to make two deep scratches into the car's hood, while it was parked (legally) in the roadway. The estimated cost to fix the damage is $300.

Theft
Authorities received a report of a theft in the 800 block of E. Shady Way Tuesday between the hours of 8 p.m., June 4 and 7:30 p.m., June 5. According to police, an unknown offender or offenders took a bicycle from the patio of a private residence. The value of the bike is $60.

Retail theft
According to police, an unknown white man was reported to have hid merchandise underneath his jacket in a shopping cart at the Jewel-Osco in the 1800 block of S. Arlington Heights Road at 6:40 p.m. Monday, and left without paying for the items. The man is described as being between 50 and 60 years old, 5'4,' 150 pounds with a gray beard, and wearing a multicolor striped jacket, long-sleeved multicolor striped shirt, and tan pants. The man was last seen leaving the area in a tan Honda Pilot with an unknown Illinois license plate. The total retail value of the stolen merchandise is under investigation at this time.
Authorities received a report of that unknown offender or offenders removed the tires and rims from a white 2019 Buick Enclave while it was parked in a dealership offsite lot in the 1500 block of W. Dundee Road Monday between the hours of 2:20 a.m. and 9 a.m. The total value of the stolen items is $3,000.
Burglary from motor vehicle
Police reported that between the hours of 11:30 p.m., June 3 and 7:30 a.m., June 4, an unknown offender or offenders reportedly got inside a victim's white 2015 Honda Civic in the 400 block of S. Forrest Avenue by breaking the front passenger side window, and took a radar detector valued at $400 and coins totaling $10.00. The repairs to the vehicle are estimated at $500.00.
Theft
Police reported that an unknown offender or offenders stole patio furniture from the patio of a ground floor apartment unit in the 2400 block of E. Oakton between the hours of 10 p.m., June 3 and 12 a.m., June 4. The value of the stolen property is unknown at this time.
Authorities received a report that an American flag was stolen from where it was hung on the side of a private residence in the 2100 block of S. Goebbert Road, between the hours of 10 p.m., June 3 and 7 a.m., June 4. The flag is valued at $100.
Police said vehicle burglaries and thefts are preventable; lock your cars, take your keys and remove all valuables. "Follow the #9pmroutine."
