No Garbage Service Wednesday, Warming Centers Open In Arlington

There will be no garbage pick up Wednesday and warming centers will be open as Arlington prepares for the extreme weather ahead.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Garbage collection will be suspended Wednesday and warming centers around Arlington will be opened as part of precautions the village is taking ahead of the severe winter weather forecast for the area.

Residents in the cold can find temporary relief at the senior center or in the lobby of the police station. The senior center at 1801 West Campbell will be open for those who need to get warm Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m; Tuesdays,Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m; and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Those who need a place to escape the cold overnight can call Arlington's social services division at 847-368-5760.

The Arlington Heights Downtown & Arlington Park train stations also will be open until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, to help shelter residents from the cold.

There will be no garbage or recycling pick up on Wed., Jan.30.
