Police Need Help Picking Students' Top Anti-Speeding Video
Four area high schools are looking to win the top spot for their anti-speeding public service announcements.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — Arlington Heights police need your votes to help pick the top high schools' public service announcement aimed at curbing speeding drivers.
Buffalo Grove, John Hersey, The Academy at Forest View and Wheeling high schools are the top contenders for their public-service videos. The award is part of the police department's "Speed Awareness Video Education (SAVE) Challenge," which teaches students about the dangers of speeding.
Speeding is a leading cause of traffic-related deaths and injuries, police said. The number of deaths from speed-related crashes rose nine percent nationwide from 2014 to 2016 alone. A large portion of drivers involved in those crashes are ages 16 to 21, police officials added.
