Prison Time, Sex Offender Registry for Child Porn-Distributing Pastor

A former Arlington Heights associate pastor was sentenced last week for finding, downloading and sharing child pornography.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL - Several child pornography charges against a former Arlington Heights pastor were dropped last week in exchange for his guilty plea to distributing sexual images of kids.

Clovis Vilchez-Parra, 36, was sentenced on Thursday to four years in prison, according to a Chicago Tribune report. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender.

"Vilchez-Parra was a priest at the Mision San Juan Diego Catholic Church at the time of his arrest in 2015 by police in Palatine, where he lived in housing provided by the Archdiocese of Chicago, authorities said," the Chicago Tribune reported, later noting that he spent time as the associate pastor at Our Lady of Mercy in Chicago. "Prosecutors said Vilchez-Parra used computer file-sharing software to locate, download and distribute pornographic images of children younger than 13."
