Remembering Megan 2013 Golf Outing to Benefit Suicide Survivors
Sixth annual golf outing honors memory of Arlington Heights teen Megan Baumgartner, who committed suicide in 2007.
When Megan Baumgartner was on the golf team at Rolling Meadows High School, no one would have believed the active, well-liked young woman was suffering in silence from depression. Tragically, Megan took her own life in 2007 at the age of 18.
Today, Megan’s memory is being honored through the sixth annual golf outing in her name, which has raised more than $70,000 for LOSS – Loving Outreach to Survivors of Suicide, which provides counseling to families grieving the loss of a loved one through suicide.
“This is a powerful way of keeping Megan’s spirit alive,” said her father, Al Baumgartner. “We were so grateful for LOSS after Megan’s death – it’s important for families coping with suicide to have that support.”
