Results Of AH Independence Day Traffic Safety Campaign

Police racked up over 200 violations over the Independence Day traffic safety campaign period.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The Arlington Heights Police Department issued over 200 citations and arrests over the Independence Day Holiday Enforcement Campaign, according to a release from the department. The campaign is a part of the Illinois Department of Transportation.

They ran numerous seat belt enforcement zones and a roadside safety checkpoint, the release says, to enforce one DUI, two for driving without a license and 92 seat belt violations.

  • two unlicensed drivers
  • 92 failure to wear a seat belt
  • 13 child safety restraint violations
  • 27 cellphone use/texting while driving
  • seven uninsured motorists
  • 23 registration-related violations
  • 49 equipment violations
  • one speeding

The Arlington Heights Police Department is will continue to be an active participant in IDOT's other traffic enforcement programs, the release says, including campaigns like "Drive Sober or Get Pulled over" and "Click it or Ticket."
