Rolling Meadows Teen Sentenced 4 Years In 2016 Shooting

The sentence was part of a plea deal stemming from an incident that wounded an 18-year-old man in Arlington Heights.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — A Rolling Meadows teen accused of wounding another teen in a 2016 shooting at an Arlington Heights apartment complex was sentenced to four years in prison Thursday as part of a plea deal. Jonathan Argueta-Hernandez, 18, pleaded guilty to aggravated discharge of a firearm stemming from the incident, according to the Arlington Heights Post.

The shooting happened at an apartment complex in the 1100 block of Algonquin Roadin August of 2016 , the Daily Herald reported at the time. An 18-year-old man was hit in the buttocks in the incident, which was captured on security camera video, the report added.

Investigators reviewed the video footage, and a witness identified Argueta-Hernandez as the alleged shooter, the report stated. He was arrested in October 2016, the report added.

Argueta-Hernandez, who was 16 at the time, was originally charged with aggravated battery with a firearm. The initial charge — a class X felony — meant he was to be tried as an adult, the Post reports.
