Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Northwest Cook County, DuPage, Kane and McHenry
Quarter-size hail and 60 mile per hour winds are expected. The warning is in effect until 8:45 p.m. Saturday.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for northwest Cook County, northwestern DuPage County, Kane County and south Central McHenry County until 8:45 p.m. Saturday.
Thunderstorms were located five miles southeast of Marengo at 7:36 p.m., according to the National Weather Service, and are moving southeast at 25 miles per hour.
Quarter size hail with 60 miles per hour wind gusts are expected, and the hail could damage vehicles, roofs, siding and trees, the National Weather Service reports.

Communities included in and around the warning are Algonquin, Carpentersville, Sleepy Hollow, East Dundee, Elgin, Hoffman Estates, St. Charles, Schaumburg, DuPage, Huntley, Lake in the Hills, Gilberts, West Dundee, Streamwood, Bartlett and Hanover Park. Â
The National Weather Service suggests that you move to an interior room on the lowest floor of the building you are in for protection.
