Unlocked Cars Burglarized In Arlington Heights: Police Reports
In addition to items being stolen from unlocked cars in the area, an unlocked bike was also stolen, according to Arlington Heights police.
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The Arlington Heights Police Department responded to the following crime reports during the last two weeks:
Theft
- Money was stolen from the victim's purse after the victim accidentally left her purse unattended in the Holiday Inn Express lobby, in the 2000 block of S. Arlington Heights Road. The incident took place between 2 p.m. Thursday and 1 p.m. Friday.
- An unlocked bicycle was stolen from an enclosed area on a property in the 1200 block of E. Central Road between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. Saturday. The bike was stolen from where the victim had tried to hide it for security reasons.
- A check was stolen from a mailbox in the 1800 block of E. Crabtree Drive at 8 a.m., Jan. 29, and was later deposited fraudulently.
- A camera valued at $800 was stolen when a person (or more than one person) got inside an unlocked car between 12 a.m. and 7 a.m. Friday. The car was parked overnight in the driveway of the victim's home in the 4100 block of N. Highland Avenue.
- A wallet valued at $60 was stolen when a person (or more than one person) got inside two of the victim's unlocked cars between 11 p.m. Thursday and 7:40 a.m. Friday, while the cars were parked in the driveway of the victim's home in the 4200 block of N. Kennicott Avenue. The wallet contained various forms of ID, credit cards and an unknown amount of money.

The Arlington Heights Police Department reminds residents to lock their cars, take keys out and remove all valuables, as car thefts and burglaries are preventable.
