Wheeling Sophomore Charged In Snapchat Threat Against High School

The 16-year-old boy is accused of posting a picture of a gun on social media, but the threat wasn't deemed to be credible.

WHEELING, IL — A 16-year-old Wheeling High School sophomore was charged with felony disorderly conduct Wednesday after he allegedly made threats about the school on social media earlier this week, according to the Daily Herald. The boy's name was not released because his case is being handled in the juvenile court system.

According to Wheeling police, the student posted a photo of a gun that included a threat directed at the school on Snapchat, the Herald reports. Police and Township High School District 214 officials were tipped Monday night to the posting, and investigators located the boy, the report added.
