SCHAUMBURG, IL — A 23-year-old man was charged with first-degree murder on Sunday, two days after a 28-year-old woman died of blunt force trauma in a Schaumburg hotel room.

Schaumburg Police responded to the Extended Stay America at 1200 E. American Lane at 11:33 a.m. Friday in response to a 911 call for help regarding an unresponsive person, police said.

There, emergency personnel found the body of Susan J. Tobey, 28, of Portland, Oregon. Paramedics determined Tobey to be deceased, and an autopsy by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office found her cause of death to be injuries due to blunt force trauma.
