11 Pounds Of Cannabis In The Mail: 18-Year-Old From Aurora Charged

Juanpablo Ruiz was charged with felony drug trafficking after law enforcement officers linked him to an 11-pound package of cannabis on Tuesday, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office.
The postal service intercepted a suspicious package and notified law enforcement officers, who obtained a search warrant for the address where the package would be delivered, according to the Daily Herald.
On Tuesday, Kane County Sheriff's detectives, U.S. Postal Inspectors and Drug Enforcement Agents executed the search warrant at a residence on Hamlet Circle in Montgomery. Deputies seized the 11 pounds of cannabis, worth an estimated $46,000. They also seized $3,000. Law enforcement officials are still investigating the incident.

Ruiz, an 18-year-old from Aurora, was charged with cannabis trafficking, manufacture/delivery of cannabis and possession of cannabis. He is being held at the Kane County jail, and he faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted, according to the Daily Herald.
The charges against Ruiz are accusations of crimes, and they are not proof of guilt.
