The suspect walked into a small party and opened fire toward another teen, apparently over a girl, police said.

AURORA, IL — A mid-October teen shooting has resulted in charges for attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm for a 16-year-old boy. The shooting took place Oct. 14 at 11:40 p.m. inside a home in the 400 block of Echo Lane in the DuPage County section of Aurora, according to Aurora Police.

Police said the 16-year-old walked into the home where a small party was taking place, shot the victim, then fled the scene. According to authorities, the shooting appeared to be over a girl who was also at the party who used to date the alleged gunman. Police said the teen apparently did not know the boy he shot.

The victim was taken to a hospital, then transferred to a suburban hospital where he was treated for critical injuries.
