17 Pounds Of Heroin: Aurora Man Gets 60 Years In Prison
Authorities estimated the street value of the drugs to be $1.3 million

Modesto Alarcon was sentenced to 60 years in prison for possessing more than 17 pounds of heroin, according to the Kane County State’s Attorney Office. Authorities estimated the street value of the drugs to be $1.3 million.
In April 2014, Aurora police and Department of Homeland Security Investigations searched Alarcon’s residence on Grove Street. They found more than 17 pounds of heroin, $84,000 in cash, a handgun, ammunition and items consistent with drug distribution. He was convicted in December.
“This 60-year sentence, the maximum allowed by the law, makes it clear that the community has no tolerance for heroin and other dangerous, addictive and deadly drugs,” Kane County State’s Attorney Joseph McMahon said in the release. “We have seen far too many lives tragically ended or ruined by heroin. This is a meaningful victory for the community, as well as for those in law enforcement who have been working hard to remove this poison from our streets.”
