6 Left Without Home After Fire On Aurora’s West Side
A fire in a second-floor bedroom was quickly put out, but not before it caused nearly $50,000 in damage to the home, officials said.
AURORA, IL — A bedroom fire last week on Aurora’s West Side left six people without a home, according to fire officials.
A resident of the home in the 200 block of South Fordham Drive called 911 around 5:55 p.m. Thursday after finding flames in a second-floor bedroom, officials said in a news release. The fire was quickly put out, but not before it caused nearly $50,000 in damage, officials said.
The entire second floor was damaged by smoke, while the first-floor ceiling was damaged by water, leading the home to be deemed uninhabitable. Two adults and four children are in temporary housing, officials said.
