Man With Valid FOID Brought Rifle Into Building, Made No Threats: APD
Aurora police launched an investigation after a man with a valid FOID and concealed carry license brought a gun into an Aurora building.

AURORA, IL — No charges were issued Wednesday after a man carried a rifle into an Aurora building, making no threats, Aurora police said in an update.
Investigators determined the man, of Yorkville, was cleaning an unused closet in the building in the 1900 block of West Galena Boulevard when he found an uncased gun. As he left the building, bystanders saw the rifle and called 911, according to Aurora police.
Officers were dispatched at 12:16 p.m. to the building. Police said the man did not point it at anyone or threaten anyone.

Police launched an investigation out of an abundance of caution, and several schools and a daycare were placed on a soft lockdown during the incident.
The building’s occupants were escorted away from the property while police conducted a search of the premises.

“The building was determined to be safe and the man was not located inside,” officials said.
The man had a valid Firearm Owners Identification card and concealed carry license and had no intent to harm anyone, police said. No charges are expected.
In a post on Facebook at about 12:35 p.m., Aurora officers asked people to avoid the area while the investigation continues.
