Aurora Cop With A Crystal Ball Makes For Epic Capture
In a recent downtown Aurora foot chase, one officer had the foresight to position himself away from the others.

AURORA, IL — An officer managed to predict exactly where a suspect was trying to go to avoid him, officials say. At about 6 p.m. Oct. 18, an off-duty cop from another city called in a man with a handgun walking around the first block of N. Broadway. Several officers responded, including one who thought he might know where the suspect was headed. He positioned himself in a parking lot at the end of an alley between two buildings. Just as he had predicted, when the suspect saw the cops, he ran down that alley right to the officer, who was waiting to arrest him.
The suspect tried to ditch a gun under the police car, but it was quickly found. Jarreau Harvey, 35, of the 600 block of N. Randall Road, was charged with being an armed habitual offender, a class-X felony. He was also charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, per the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.
He was taken to Kane County lockup with a $500,000 bond. Harvey's charges are not proof of guilt. He is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which it is the burden of the state to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
