AURORA, IL — The Aurora Fire Department launched a new data portal that allows residents to keep up to date with various agency statistics, officials announced Thursday.

The fire department worked with the city's Data and Analytics Division to produce the portal that provides key data points on the city's fire prevention efforts, including numbers on carbon monoxide calls. The portal also gives information about the Aurora Emergency Management Agency, including the number of exercise hours completed, how many training hours were completed, and the number of volunteers participating in events.

Locals can also check to see what Fire Prevention Bureau permits were issued and what events are upcoming.

Residents can use the Aurora Fire Department Open Data Portal to use interactive maps, including the Fire Service Loopup Map that allows people to find which fire and medic service covers their area. The Siren Map helps locals identify the location of warning sirens around the city.

"The Aurora Fire Department Open Data Portal is a major step forward," Fire Chief David McCabe said in a statement. "It enhances transparency and empowers residents with key information on fire prevention and emergency management, helping us better serve and protect our community."
