Aurora To Give Out Free Groceries In Time For Father's Day, Juneteenth

Up to 1,000 families will receive boxes of fresh meat and produce during the pop-up pantry, officials said.

AURORA, IL — The City of Aurora is helping locals prepare for Father's Day weekend and Juneteenth by giving out free groceries.

A pop-up pantry, in collaboration with the Northern Illinois Food Bank and Aurora Divine 9 Alliance, is planned for 9 a.m. June 14 at Phillips Park, 1000 Ray Moses Drive. Officials said up to 1,000 families will receive boxes of fresh meat and produce.

Ten random cars will also receive $50 gift cards.

The event is first-come, first-served, so no prior online registration is needed. The line will form early on Smith Boulevard, officials said.

Participants will not have to show any identification to receive groceries.
