Aurora Man Shot, Killed In Back Yard Of Home, Suspect Flees: PD

The 47-year-old man was found in the 100 block of North Calhoun Street and died at a local hospital from gunshot wounds, police said.

AURORA, IL — A 47-year-old Aurora man was shot and killed on Thursday afternoon and police are continuing to seek a suspect, police said.

The shooting took place just before noon in the 100 block of North Calhoun Street. Police said that they arrived to find the 47-year-old man in the backyard of a home, suffering from gunshot wounds.

The man was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. No other injuries were reported in the incident, police said.

Officers searched the immediate area for the shooter but were unsuccessful.

The identity of the man who was killed is being withheld pending notification of his family.

Detectives from the Aurora Police Department’s Bureau of Investigations responded to the scene and began investigating the specific circumstances of the incident. Evidence technicians also arrived at the location to identify and collect forensic evidence from the shooting, police said.
