Aurora Nonprofits Get $1.37M In Coronavirus Relief From Kane Co.
The Kane County Board is sending some of the county's federal coronavirus-relief funding to 11 Aurora nonprofits.
AURORA, IL — Eleven Aurora nonprofits are set to share about $1.37 million in federal coronavirus-relief funding passed on by Kane County.
The Kane County Board recently approved about $3.05 million in relief for 32 nonprofits, with about 45 percent of that going to nonprofits in the county’s biggest city.

Hesed House, the second-largest homeless shelter in Illinois, will receive $791,000 from the county’s $93 million allocation from the federal CARES Act. That money will help the Aurora organization winterize a makeshift shelter to house more than 100 people during the winter months.
The Association for Individual Development will receive just under $350,000 to support its services for people with developmental, intellectual, physical and/or mental health challenges.

The Kane County Board allocated more than $50,000 to Aurora food pantries, with the Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry getting $32,150 and the Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry receiving $18,400.

Other Aurora nonprofits to receive CARES Act funding include: Senior Services Associates ($47,380); Communities in Schools of Aurora ($43,200); Simply Destinee ($24,140); World Relief Chicagoland ($21,800); Echo Development Center ($21,900); Mutual Ground ($19,340); and the National Alliance on Mental Illness ($1,760).
