Aurora, One Of Nation's Safest Cities: Study

Aurora is in the top five safest cities when it comes to home and community safety.

AURORA, IL — Are you a risk-taker, or do you play it safe? You could be living in a town that doesn't quite align with your answer. According to a new Wallethub study, Aurora ranked No. 16 on the Safest Cities In America list out of 182 cities. The online personal finance management website analyzed 35 metrics over three categories to determine the outcome. The categories are: Home and community safety, financial safety and natural disasters.

Gallup polls said four in 10 Americans fear being a victim of a mass shooting, and 30 percent of adults are concerned about terrorism. Potential hazards also come with visiting unsecured websites or forgoing health insurance.

Aurora ranked third in the home and community safety category. That included weighted values from per-capita numbers of paramedics, sex offenders, forcible rape, and even terrorist attacks.
