Aurora Teen Accused Of Selling Guns, Drugs To Police

Prosecutors allege the 19-year-old sold two handguns, a sawed-off shotgun, ammunition and prescription pills to an undercover cop.

AURORA, IL — An Aurora teen is facing more than a dozen felony charges after police alleged he sold guns and drugs to an undercover officer.

Armando Recendez, 19, was arrested Aug. 21 and charged with three counts each of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and possession of a firearm without a FOID card; two counts of armed violence; and one count each of gunrunning and possession of a stolen firearm.

Prosecutors from the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office allege Recendez sold two handguns, a sawed-off 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun and Xanax pills to an undercover officer during three transactions — one in March and two in August.

Illinois State Police and the DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group searched Recendez’s home Aug. 21 and found more Xanax and ammunition, prosecutors allege.

Recendez is being held at the Kane County jail in lieu of $500,000 bail, according to court records.
