Aurora Teen Kidnaps Girl, Who Escapes: Aurora Police
The 19-year-old is facing multiple kidnapping charges after the Wednesday afternoon incident.

AURORA, IL — A 19-year-old Aurora man is facing kidnapping charges after police say he kidnapped a girl Wednesday afternoon.
The 17-year-old victim contacted Aurora police at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday to report she was kidnapped by a man near Illinois Avenue and Orchard Avenue.
According to a news release sent Thursday afternoon, the girl was walking in a nearby neighborhood when a man, unknown to her, started following her. As she was walking on the sidewalk in the 700 block of Orchard Avenue, he grabbed her from behind, covered her mouth with his hand and dragged her away.

The girl was able to free herself from the man, identified as Daniel Raines, who then fled on foot, police said.
A description of the man was broadcast to police, who located him at about 3:20 p.m. near North Avenue and River Street, according to officials.

Raines was taken into custody and, after an investigation, was charged with two counts of kidnapping by force, one count of aggravated battery in a public place, and one count of battery making physical contact of an insulting/provoking nature, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office.
The teenager was transported to the Kane County Adult Justice Center, where he remains in custody.
