Bicyclist Went On Red, Got Hit By Car: Aurora Police

Aurora police said the bicyclist's injuries were serious but not believed to be life-threatening, as of the time of the crash.

AURORA, IL — A bicyclist was hit by a car July 15 after disobeying a red light at North Eola Road and East New York Street, Aurora police said.

Aurora police were dispatched at 4:26 p.m. to the intersection and discovered through a preliminary investigation that the car was turning through the intersection on a green arrow when it hit the bicyclist, who proceeded despite the red light, spokesperson Jim Levicki told Patch.

The bicyclist's injuries were serious but not believed to be life-threatening, as of the time of the crash, Levicki said.

The bicyclist was cited for failure to obey a traffic signal.
